🍂 What's happening this weekend in Welland

Good morning, Welland!

The Jackfish and the Hamilton Cardinals finished the season with identical records, and now they settle it in a best-of-seven for the Dominico Cup. Game 2 is at The Pond on Saturday night, and if you've never watched playoff baseball on Quaker Road under the lights, this is the weekend I'd pick to fix that. There’s also live music at The Bank on Friday and Saturday, plus Culture Days at Central Fire Hall and a fundraiser walk at Seaway Mall.

🎨 Culture Days takes place at Central Fire Hall, 30 Hellems Ave, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with additional dates September 23, 26 and 27.

🥞 Funnel Cake King is set up in the Seaway Mall parking lot Thursday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cash only.

🚴 Barrelman Triathlon races Sunday, September 20, starting at the Welland International Flatwater Centre and finishing in Niagara Falls.

🏛️ Welland Museum at 140 King St is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, with donations welcome. Closed Sunday.

The Thursday summer patio music series wraps up September 17. Enjoy live music outside on Niagara Street.

A Friday market at Welland Market Square, organized by When Esthers Arise.

Stories, songs and a weekly craft for children ages 2 to 4. Registration required.

A free evening for youth ages 12 to 18 (grades 7 and up), with families welcome. Featuring Christian hip-hop artist Ant Lee, food and activities. Registration encouraged. The organizer notes that personal stories include suicide and mental health; parental discretion is advised.

The championship series opens on the road before returning to Welland on Saturday.

All-ages live rock at the downtown venue. Doors open half an hour before the show.

Rose City Comedy Collective runs a weekly stand-up open mic. Come to watch or put your name down for a seven-minute spot.

The Saturday market since 1907. Shop for produce, meats and baked goods.

Meet therapy dogs at the mall branch. All ages welcome; drop in, with no registration required.

A family-friendly fundraiser walk supporting the Welland agency that helps seniors and adults with disabilities stay in their homes.

Free sports for girls ages 6 to 12, run by the City and Niagara College. Registration is required; check availability before going. Activities move indoors if it rains.

Make time for a walk or picnic on Merritt Island, steps from downtown. Stop for Funnel Cake King at Seaway Mall on the way home if you fancy a treat.

The first home game of the championship series. Playoff tickets went on sale Monday, so grab them before Saturday.

Emo Night with MAGE at The Bank Art House. All ages.

The 46th annual run, walk or ride for cancer research. No entry fee, no minimum distance, rain or shine.

The annual commemoration of the 1940 air campaign, organized by the Royal Canadian Air Force Association.

Back on the road for a Sunday afternoon game. Game 4 returns to Welland Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

🎡 Wainfleet Agricultural Society Fall Fair runs Thursday 6 p.m. through Saturday 9 p.m. at 31943 Park St, Wainfleet. Livestock, food trucks, vendors and live entertainment.

🎵 Concerts on the Canal wraps the season Friday, September 25 at Merritt Park Amphitheatre, featuring Reggaddiction and Road Waves. Free admission. Check the event page for the latest timing.

🍎 Fall Festival at the Market is Saturday, September 26, 8 a.m. to noon.

🎸 Ripcordz with Welland Wasted and Convikt at The Bank, Saturday, September 26. Doors 7 p.m.; all ages.

⚾ Jackfish Game 4 is Wednesday, September 23 at 7:05 p.m. at The Pond.

⚾ The Jackfish and Cardinals finished 31 and 17 apiece, with Hamilton taking the tiebreaker and home field in the finals.
