Good morning, Welland!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend! Saturday is the big day, starting with Thanksgiving at the Market, where you can pick up everything for dinner, hear live music from B4 Midnight and get a free hot apple cider.

Saturday night has trivia at Il Forno and a Rage Against the Machine tribute at The Bank, and the Canadians are home Sunday night.

The pumpkin farms are open all weekend, and the Seaway Mall market runs on Thanksgiving Monday too.

In this week's Welland Weekly:

  • Thanksgiving at the Market, Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. to noon

  • Rebels of Rage at The Bank Art House, Saturday, October 10 at 8 p.m.

  • Esther's Friday Market, new movies with their Rotten Tomatoes scores, Canadians hockey, pumpkin farms, and more weekend plans

Let's get to it.

Two new movies open Friday, and last week's openers are still playing. Here's where the Rotten Tomatoes scores sit as of Wednesday (critics first, then audiences). Scores move a lot in opening week.

  • The Social Reckoning (opens Friday): Aaron Sorkin's drama about the Facebook Files. Critics 70% from 60 reviews; no audience score yet.

  • Other Mommy (opens Friday): a supernatural horror film with Jessica Chastain. No scores yet.

  • Digger: the Tom Cruise movie from last week. Critics 51%, audiences 73%.

  • Verity: the Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson thriller. Critics 33%, audiences 71%, so this one's more of a crowd-pleaser than a critics' pick.
